For systems using firmware signed with the platform key

  • The public build reports a signature mismatch
  • Your device runs closer-to-stock Android firmware
  • Some deeper custom car systems

7870 build

For specific Fangyitong hardware platforms

  • Fangyitong 7870-based units
  • 7862 platforms on Android 12
  • Supports picture-in-picture
  • If unsure, try the Public build first

Qualcomm build

For units built on Qualcomm Snapdragon chips

  • You know the hardware is Qualcomm-based
  • Common on Android 9, 10, or 11
  • Some premium custom car systems
  • Supports picture-in-picture

BYD build

For vehicles that restrict ordinary launcher installation

  • Best starting point for stock BYD systems
  • Car displays that cannot install through the app store
  • Systems that block third-party launcher apps
  • Uses a more compatibility-friendly signing approach
Use with caution

HtmlViewer build

For specific verified vehicles such as Hongqi H5 and Leapmotor models

  • Known to work on Hongqi H5, Leapmotor, and a few similar vehicles
  • May conflict with the system on other car displays
  • Not recommended unless you know you need it
  • If you are unsure, the Public build is safer
Quick rule of thumb:If you are not sure, choose Public build first. Only switch if installation fails or the app crashes immediately.

Download the APK

Tap the download button above and save the APK to your phone or computer. If you are downloading on a phone, saving to the Downloads folder is easiest.

Move the file to the car display

Copy the APK to the car display by USB drive, a phone connected over USB, or any built-in file transfer option your system provides.

Allow unknown app installs

In the car system settings, look under Security for an option such as "Install unknown apps" or "Allow unknown sources." The exact path varies by system.

Open the APK to install

Find the APK in the file manager, open it, and follow the prompts. Installation usually takes about 30 seconds.

Set it as the default launcher

After installation, the system may ask which launcher to use. Choose SmartCar Launcher and tap "Always." If you are not prompted, go to:Settings -> Apps -> Default apps -> Home app and switch it manually.

Prepare a USB drive (recommended)

Copy the APK to the root of a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Most car displays recognize one of these formats.

Plug the drive into the car display

Insert the USB drive into the vehicle USB port. Many systems will open a file manager or show a USB prompt automatically.

Open the file manager

Look for an app such as "Files" or "My Files," then open the USB drive and find the APK. If your system has no file manager, you cancontact supportfor a recommended file manager APK.

Install the APK

Open the APK and complete installation by following the prompts. On the first install you may need to confirm install permission.

Set as default launcher, then restart

When the launcher picker appears, choose "SmartCar Launcher -> Always." Restarting the system afterward helps ensure the setting sticks.

No USB drive available? You can also try this path:
Connect your phone by USB -> choose file transfer mode -> browse phone storage from the car system file manager -> install the APK.
Installer says "signature mismatch" or "a newer version is already installed"?
Remove the older SmartCar Launcher build first and try again. If the signature mismatch remains, your current and previous packages were signed differently, so switch to another channel such as Public -> AOSP.
Installed successfully, but crashes on launch?
Try this: 1) confirm required permissions such as storage or overlay access, 2) restart the car system and launch again, 3) reinstall another channel build, 4) if it still fails after several attempts, pleasecontact supportshare your car display model.
How do I make SmartCar Launcher the default home screen?
Option 1 (recommended):When the system asks which launcher to use, choose SmartCar Launcher and tap "Always."
Option 2:Go to Settings -> App management -> Default apps -> Desktop/Homeand choose SmartCar Launcher.
Option 3:Inside SmartCar Launcher settings, use the built-in "Set as default launcher" shortcut.
I do not know which chip or platform my car display uses
download Public buildwhich covers the vast majority of systems. Only switch if installation fails. If you are unsure, send the brand and model tosupport. We can help you decide.
Cannot find the APK or any file manager?
Some car systems hide the file manager. Search settings for "Files" or look through the app drawer. If it still is not available, install a file manager from the vehicle app store.
How do I uninstall SmartCar Launcher and return to the stock launcher?
Go to Settings -> App management -> Default apps -> Desktop Switch back to the stock launcher first, then uninstall SmartCar Launcher normally. Do not uninstall before switching, or you may be left without an available home screen.
